He ruled from 1514 until 1537. He lived in the high Andes mountains. Some people say his name was also Bogotá. The Spanish name for Bogotá came from his name.

Early in his rule, Tisquesusa fought many battles. He fought the Panche people to the west. He also fought the northern Muisca. Many warriors fought in these wars. Later, a truce helped keep peace.

Then, Spanish soldiers arrived. A man named Popón told Tisquesusa about them. Tisquesusa sent a spy to study the new army. He saw they had weapons that made loud sounds. He moved his people to stay safe.

Spanish troops searched for the leader. They found him near Facatativá at night. A soldier hurt him during the fight. Tisquesusa fled into the mountains. He died from his wounds there. A year later, people found his body.

After he died, his brother Sagipa became the leader. This was not the usual Muisca way. Sagipa was the last ruler of the southern Muisca. He died in 1539.
