Tidal range

earth science Maturity 11-13 Next article →

The sea level goes up and down.

Tidal Range
Tidal Range

This is called the tidal range. It is the gap between high and low water.

The moon and sun pull on the water. This pull makes the sea rise and fall.

Sometimes the pulls work together. This makes the range very large.

Other times the pulls do not match. This makes the range very small. The range changes based on where you are. Some places have huge tides. Canada has very big tides. The sea in the Mediterranean is much calmer.
