Jean-Honoré Fragonard made it in the 1700s. It is a masterpiece of the Rococo style. This style is known for being light and playful.

The painting shows a young woman on a swing. She wears a bergère hat, which is a shepherdess hat. She flings her shoe into the air with one foot.

A young man hides in the bushes. He points at her dress. An older man pushes the swing with ropes. A small white dog barks nearby. You can also see stone statues of puttos, which are small child figures.

For a long time, the painting looked dark. This was due to old, yellow varnish. Experts cleaned it in 2021 at the Wallace Collection in London. This helped the colors look bright again. One copy of the work is in Versailles. In that version, the lady wears a blue dress. Many people still love this work today. It even inspired scenes in the movie Frozen.
