It is not just about the past. It is about the past, the present, and the future. Some people call it "Everywhen." This means it is always happening.

Many stories tell how the world began. Great spirit beings traveled across the land. They made mountains, rivers, and trees.

These spirits may become part of the land. A rock or a tree might be a spirit. One story says the Milky Way is a river. This river connects to where a creator lives.

These stories teach people how to live. They give rules for being kind. They also teach how to care for nature.

People follow paths called songlines. These paths show where spirits traveled. Some people use symbols to show their Dreaming. They might have a Kangaroo Dreaming or a Shark Dreaming. This helps them connect to their ancestors and the land.
