arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

The Archers is a famous radio show in the UK.

It tells stories about life in the country. It is the longest drama in the world. It has more than 20,000 episodes. The show began in 1951. It was first made to help teach farmers. Soon, it became a show for everyone to enjoy.

The stories happen in a fake village called Ambridge.

This village is in a place called Borsetshire. Many families live there. The Archer family lives on Brookfield Farm. They do mixed farming. This means they keep sheep, cows, and grow crops. Other families like the Aldridges and the Grundys also live in the village.

Some parts of the show feel very real. The writers include things happening in the world. They might write about a big football game. They may even write about a royal death. The actors do not work on the show every day. Some actors have other jobs. One actor was a doctor. Another actor is a journalist. This helps them bring real life to the stories.
