People use media like radio and TV to do this. The word comes from combining "television" and "evangelism."

Many religious leaders use these tools to reach many people. Some leaders have their own large churches. Others work mostly through the screen.

Radio was a big tool for this work. In 1923, a church in New York City started its own station.

Later, leaders like Fulton Sheen moved to television. He was called the first "televangelist." By 1980, some programs reached 91 different languages. Some leaders have built their own networks.

Some people have questions about this work. They wonder about how the money is used. Many shows ask for donations to pay for the programs. Some leaders own large homes or private planes. This can be a point of debate. Some say it does not match traditional teachings. Others say it helps them reach the whole world.
