technology Maturity 7-9 Next article →

A supercar is a very fast sports car. It is built to drive like a race car. These cars often have a low body. This helps them move through the air easily. Moving through air well is called aerodynamic drag. Less drag lets the car reach higher speeds. Many supercars use a mid-engine design. This means the engine is in the middle of the car.

New hypercars use new ways to move. Some use a hybrid drivetrain. This means they use both fuel and electricity. Other new cars are full-electric. They use only electricity to run. Many of these cars use parts from racing. This helps them perform well. Examples of supercars include the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Aventador. The Bugatti Veyron is a famous hypercar.
