Song had many leaders. Some ruled for a very long time. One leader, Duke Zhao II, ruled for many years. People also say the famous thinker Confucius came from this group. He was thought to be a descendant of the Song nobles.

Song went through many changes. In the year 701 BC, a marriage helped Song gain power. Later, a man named Dai Yan took the throne. He called himself King Kang. He was a strong leader who won many battles. However, Song did not last forever. In 286 BC, the state of Qi took over the land. This happened during a time of many wars. Song was a very important part of early Chinese history.
