"text": "Slalom is a high-speed alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline. It requires athletes to navigate a course of gates or poles. These gates are spaced much closer together than in other disciplines like giant slalom or downhill. Because the gates are so close, racers must perform very quick and very short turns. Today, slalom is a major international sport. It is contested at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and the Olympic Winter Games. [IMAGE:File:Tonje Sekse Norway 2011 Slalom
