Shaykh Tusi was a very famous scholar. He was a Twelver Shia Muslim. He was born in 995 AD in Tus, Iran. He studied many things about faith. He also studied law and history.

He moved to the city of Baghdad to learn. He studied with a great teacher named al-Shaykh al-Mufid. Tusi wrote many books in his life. He wrote over fifty works. Two of these books are very special. They are part of the Four Books of Shia hadith. Hadith are reports of the sayings of the Prophet.

In 1055, fighting broke out in Baghdad. Many buildings and libraries were hurt. Tusi's house was burned down. He lost many of his books in the fire. Because of this, he moved to Najaf. Some people believe he started a school there. We call this school the Hawza of Najaf.

Tusi used reason to think about religion. He believed that reason helps people do good. His ideas changed how people studied law. His work helped scholars lead their groups. He died in Najaf in 1067.
