Celibidache had a very special way of thinking. He studied Zen Buddhism. This helped him view music in a new way. He believed music should only be heard live. He refused to make music records. He felt that a concert hall is special. He wanted listeners to have a deep, soul-felt experience. He thought recordings could not capture the magic of a moment. Because of this, his live shows were very famous. Some people even called them life-changing. He died in 1996 at age 84. Many people still study his work today.
