Jahin changed how people wrote poetry in Egypt. He used a style called "shi'r al-ammiya." This is Arabic colloquial poetry. It uses the common way people speak every day. Before this, many thought this style was only for uneducated people. In 1961, Jahin and a group called "Jama't Ibn Arus" changed this. They showed that everyday speech could be beautiful art.
