He is best known for writing about life in the countryside. His poems often show scenes from rural New England. He used the natural rhythms of how people actually speak. He called this special way of writing the "sound of sense."

This style helped him explore deep ideas about life and people. Many people see him as a very important figure in American art.

Frost had a very specific way of making his poems work. He believed that a poem should be a revelation. This means it should show something new to the reader. He said that a writer should feel surprise while writing. If the writer is surprised, the reader will be too.

He also believed that a poet must feel deep emotion. He famously said that without tears in the writer, there are no tears in the reader. This connection makes his work feel very real.

His life began in San Francisco, not on a farm.
