Two teams compete to score goals. They shoot a blue, rubber ring into a net. Players use ice skates to move quickly. They also use straight sticks with special tips. These tips help them shoot the ring with speed.

Sam Jacks and Red McCarthy created the game in Canada. It started in 1963. Now, people of all genders play it. It is very popular in Canada and Finland. Many countries like Sweden and the USA play too. In Canada, over 30,000 people play the sport.

The game has special rules. Players cannot carry the ring over the blue lines. They must pass it to a teammate instead. This keeps the game moving fast. A 30-second shot clock helps too. This clock stops players from waiting too long.
