Riemann sum

math Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Imagine a curvy line on a graph. We want to find the space under it.

We can fill that space with small shapes. We might use rectangles or boxes.

We find the size of each small shape. Then we add them all together.

This gives us a good guess for the total size. We can use the left side or right side of a box.

If we use many tiny shapes, our guess gets better. The tiny shapes help us find the true size.
