The Kid's stories used speech balloons to show what people said. This helped join pictures and words together in a new way. The Yellow Kid became so popular that people bought many things with him on them. Outcault also made a character named Buster Brown. Buster Brown was a mischievous boy with a dog named Tige. This character was also very popular. People even bought children's shoes with the name on them. Outcault worked for many big newspapers. He even traveled to Europe to draw stories. He was a very important part of art history. In 2008, he was put into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame. This is a special honor for great comic artists.
