It is the home of the Bundestag, which is the German parliament. An architect named Paul Wallot designed the building. Workers built it between 1884 and 1894. The building has many towers and eagles on its walls.

The building has a long and difficult history. In 1933, a large fire damaged the building. This fire was used by Nazi leaders to take more power. Later, the building was hurt during World War II. It became a target during the Battle of Berlin. After the war, the building was in ruins. It was fixed in the 1950s, but it was not used for parliament for a long time.

In the 1990s, Germany became one country again. The building was redesigned by Norman Foster. He added a large glass dome on the roof. This dome lets in natural light for the leaders below. People can walk up into the dome to see the city. It is now a very popular place to visit.
