These buildings help keep land dry. If land is low, water can flood it. The pumps push the water up and away. This keeps the land safe.

Some stations help boats on canals. Boats use up water as they pass. The pumps put the water back. This keeps the water deep enough for boats.

Other stations move waste water. This is water that needs cleaning. The pumps move it to a special place. This keeps our world clean.
