Ptah was also a patron for builders and craftsmen. This means he helped people who made things by hand. He was the husband of the goddess Sekhmet. He was also the father of Nefertem. Ptah often looked like a man with green skin. He wore a divine beard. He held a staff with three special signs. These signs stood for life, power, and stability.

Some people saw him as a young man. In that form, he was like the fire under the earth. This made him a god for metalworkers. But people also feared him because he could cause earthquakes. His temple in Memphis was very famous. The name for his temple even helped give us the word Egypt. Ptah is still remembered today. There is even an asteroid named after him.
