Polycarp wrote a letter to the people in Philippi. This is the only work of his that still exists. His life is also told in a story called the Martyrdom of Polycarp. This story is one of the oldest accounts of a person dying for their faith. Polycarp was very brave. He refused to honor the Roman emperor. Because of this, he was killed by fire and a spear. Some say he was eighty-six years old when he died.
