Experts study many different parts. They look at the leaves and the stems. They also study the flowers and the roots. Some scientists look at the wood in a tree. They study the bark and the tubes that carry water.

Many people helped this science grow. Nehemiah Grew was one of the first founders. He found plant cells. He called them vesicles or bladders.

Other scientists looked at even smaller parts. Matthias Jakob Schleiden found that higher plants are made of many cells.

Scientists also study how these parts work together. They look at how plants move food. They study how seeds grow. This helps us understand how all plants live and change.
