Grieg used many instruments to tell a story. He chose sounds to show Peer Gynt traveling to far lands. The music includes pieces like "Morning Mood." It also has "In the Hall of the Mountain King."

Writing this music was hard work for Grieg. He wrote 90 minutes of music for the stage. Later, he picked out parts to make two suites. A suite is a set of musical pieces. These suites are his most famous works. Suite No. 1 came out in 1888. Suite No. 2 came out in 1893. For a long time, people only knew these suites. The full music was lost for many years. People thought it was gone forever. We found the full score again in the 1980s. Now, musicians can play the whole thing. It is a big part of music history.
