Past tense

language culture Maturity 11-13 Next article →

We use special words for things that happened. These are called the past tense. They tell us about things that are done.

In English, we change words to show the past. We can add a sound to the end. For example, we say "walked."

Some words change in a different way. You might say "sang" or "went." These words help us tell stories.

Many ways of talking use the past. Some use extra words like "yesterday." Others change the end of the word.

It is a way to share what happened. It helps us talk about our lives.
