Future tense

language culture Maturity 11-13 Next article →

We use special words for things not yet done. These words talk about what comes next. They help us talk about the future.

Some ways to talk use a helper word. In English, we use "will" or "shall." You can say, "He will win." This shows it has not happened yet.

Other ways use words like "going to." You might say, "John is going to leave." This also talks about what is coming.

Some people use the present tense for the future. They might say, "The train leaves at five." This helps us plan our day. It is like a map for time.

Different lands have different ways to say this. In French, one word can mean "will buy." It is fun to see how we talk about time!
