In 1998, Pak joined the LPGA Tour full-time. That was her rookie year. She won two major trophies that year. One was the U.S. Women's Open. She was only 20 years old. This made her the youngest winner ever. That tournament was very long. It lasted 92 holes! Pak won a 20-hole playoff to finish first.

Pak changed the game of golf. In 1998, she was the only South Korean player on tour. Ten years later, there were 45 South Korean players. Many women started playing golf because of her. She inspired new players like Inbee Park. A statue of Pak stands in Gongju. It shows her famous shot from a water hazard. Pak retired after the 2016 season.
