Regular script is a neat and orderly way of writing Chinese characters. He used this skill to perform many important tasks for the empire. He served as the Imperial Calligrapher for the state. This role required him to inscribe several major imperial steles. A stele is a large stone slab used for important inscriptions. His most famous piece of work is the Stele in the Jiucheng Palace. This work demonstrates his precision and mastery of the brush.

Beyond stone inscriptions, Ouyang Xun's writing reached the hands of everyday people.
