Otto cycle

physical science Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Most cars use a special engine to move.

OTTO CYCLE
OTTO CYCLE

It works in a cycle.

First, air and fuel move into a tube.

Then, a part called a piston pushes up.

This squeezes the air and fuel tight.

A tiny spark makes the mix burn.

This heat makes the gas push the piston down.

This push creates power to move the car.

Finally, the old air is pushed out.
