Operation Car Wash was a big probe in Brazil. It began in 2014. It started with a small car wash. Investigators found a huge scheme of corruption. This means people used their power to take money unfairly.

Many leaders and businessmen were involved. They took bribes from a large oil company called Petrobras. Some builders also formed a group to share work and pay bribes. They even worked on projects like football stadiums.

Lawyers and judges led the work. A team of prosecutors worked with people in 61 countries. They used a law called a plea bargain. This let people give information to get smaller punishments. This helped find many people who broke the law.

Later, the probe faced many problems. Some people said the judges and lawyers worked too closely together. This caused many people to lose trust in the work. The task force ended in 2021. It was a very big event for Brazil. It showed how hard it is to fight corruption.
