Long ago, some people in Russia wanted to keep old ways.

They did not like new changes to their prayers. These people are called Old Believers.

They follow old rules for how to pray. For example, they use two fingers to make a sign.

They also keep long beards.

Some leaders changed the church rules. This made the Old Believers very sad. They felt the world was changing too much. Because of this, they moved to far away places to stay safe.

They also kept old styles of art. They like to paint icons in a special way. They do not use new colors or styles.

Today, many Old Believers still live in many lands. They work hard to keep their old traditions alive.
