Nontheism

philosophy religion Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Some people do not talk about gods. They might not believe in them. This is called nontheism.

It is different from atheism. An atheist says gods do not exist. A nontheist might just not care. They may stay silent on the topic.

Many different ideas fit under this name. Some people think we cannot know about gods. Others think the word god means nothing.

Some religions use these ideas too. This includes Buddhism and Jainism. It also includes Taoism. People use this term in many ways. It helps them share how they think.
