A news magazine is a special way to share news. It can be a printed magazine or a program on radio and TV. Most news magazines come out every week. They do more than just list quick facts about the day. Instead, they look deeply into current events. This helps people understand the big picture of what is happening. They aim to give a clear view of important stories.

There are many different ways these programs work. Radio news magazines are much longer than regular radio news. A quick news report might last five minutes. However, a radio news magazine can last from 30 minutes to three hours. Television news magazines work differently than newspapers. They use short films called documentaries to tell their stories. These shows use investigative journalism to find facts. This might include using hidden cameras to see things clearly.

Many famous news magazines have been around for a long time. The BBC show Panorama was one of the first TV examples. It premiered way back in 1953. In Canada, a show called W5 started in 1966. It ran for 58 seasons before it was cancelled in 2024. W5 was the longest-running show like this in North America. It ended because its parent company made budget cuts. Now, the name is used for other types of journalism.
