Some doctors perform lumbar punctures to study cerebrospinal fluid. Additionally, genetic testing helps identify many inherited neurogenetic diseases.

There are many different types of neurological conditions. Neurologists treat acute issues like stroke and brain injuries. They also manage chronic conditions such as epilepsy and seizures. Many patients seek help for movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease. Other common conditions include migraines, sleep disorders, and various brain infections.
