A long fight began in India in 1967. It started in a place called Naxalbari. Some groups wanted to change how land was shared. They wanted to give land to poor people. These groups were called Naxalites. They fought against the Indian government.

The fighting grew over many years. In the 1980s, new groups formed in South India. The conflict became very violent. Many people were hurt or killed. The groups attacked police and government buildings. The government fought back with many soldiers. They also started plans to help rural areas grow.

By the late 2000s, the fighting was at its peak. The government used a plan called Operation Green Hunt. They sent many soldiers to stop the groups. They also built roads and schools. This helped many people feel safe.

Since then, the fighting has gone down. Many fighters chose to stop and surrender. The influence of the groups shrank. By 2026, the government said the fight was over. Most areas are now peaceful. However, a few leaders are still active.
