Osman worked on many important books. He drew books of history for leaders. One book was called the Zafername. This means the Book of Victories. He also worked on the Şahname-ı Selim Han. This is the Book of Kings of Selim Khan.

His art style was very special. He used a plain but smart style. He drew tiny details with great care. His pictures looked very real. Most artists before him drew faces that were still. They did not show much feeling. Osman changed this. His portraits showed deep emotion. In one story, a man looks shocked and sad. This was a new way to paint. His work helped many painters who came after him. A writer named Orhan Pamuk wrote a book about Osman. The book is called My Name Is Red. It tells a story about Osman and his workshop.
