Long ago, Māori people in New Zealand fought many battles.

They got new guns called muskets from traders.

At first, people used wood and stone tools. But the new guns changed how they fought. This made the wars much harder for many people.

Groups wanted more guns to stay safe. They also traded crops like potatoes for them. Potatoes were easy to grow and helped feed the fighters.

These wars lasted for many years. They changed where different tribes lived. It was a very big change for the land.

Today, we remember this important time in history.
