Morning Edition is a popular American radio news show.

It is made by NPR. The show started on November 5, 1979. Many people listen to it every week. Some reports say over 12 million people listen. The show covers many topics. It tells news about science, art, and sports. It also has interviews and stories about business.

The show has many hosts. For a long time, Bob Edwards was the main host. He started with the show in 1979. Later, the show used two hosts at once. These are called co-hosts. Some hosts work in Washington, D.C. Other hosts work in Culver City, California. Today, four anchors take turns hosting the show.

Each hour follows a set of steps. The show starts with a short list of stories. This is called a billboard. Then, a news report plays for five minutes. The show has different parts called segments. Segment A has the most important news. Segment B has long interviews. Segment E often has stories about culture.

On July 4, the staff reads the Declaration of Independence every year.
