It serves the city of Montreal in Canada. The system uses rubber tires instead of steel ones. This helps the trains go faster. It also helps them climb steep hills.

Long ago, people used horse-drawn cars to move around. Later, the city used streetcars. But the streets became too crowded. This made the streetcars slow. People wanted a way to travel under the ground. Many plans were made over many years. Some plans failed due to wars or money problems.

Finally, the city built the Metro. It opened on October 14, 1966. It started with only 22 stations. Today, it has 68 stations on four lines.

The system is very busy. It is the second busiest system in Canada. The Green Line and Orange Line help people reach the city center. The Yellow Line connects Montreal to Longueuil. The Blue Line was built later to help more people travel.
