Molecular physics is the study of molecules. It looks at how they work.

Molecule motion
Molecule motion

Scientists study their shape and size. They also study their power levels. Molecules have many ways to move. They can spin in circles. This is called rotational motion. They can also shake. This is called vibrational motion.

These shakes happen around a fixed spot. Inside a molecule, there are nuclei and electrons. The nuclei are the heavy parts. They stay in nearly fixed spots. The electrons are much lighter. They move around a lot. Molecules also have electronic energy levels. These come from how electrons move. Scientists use light to study these levels. This is called spectroscopy. This way helps us see how molecules change. We can learn how far apart atoms are. We can even use molecules for quantum computing. This uses complex parts to store information. It is a big field of science.
