This movement is called molecular diffusion. It happens in gases and liquids. Particles move from a crowded area to an area with more room. This crowded area is called a high concentration. The area with more room is a low concentration.

This movement helps things mix together until they are even. When they are even, we call it dynamic equilibrium. The particles still move, but they do not change the mix anymore.

Many things change how fast particles move. Heat makes them move faster. The size and weight of the particles also matter. The thickness of the liquid can slow them down too.

Diffusion is very important for life. In your lungs, oxygen moves into your blood through diffusion. This helps you breathe. It also helps move food parts inside your cells. Scientists use diffusion to make new materials like ceramics. They even use it to make better steel.
