Hermann Minkowski was a mathematician. He found a new way to look at our world.

He showed that space and time are joined. This joined model is called Minkowski spacetime. It has four parts. Three parts are for space. One part is for time.

This model helps us study how things move. It is used with Einstein's theories.

In this model, time is treated like a direction. This is different from how we usually think. In normal space, we only use three parts. Minkowski space adds time as a fourth part. This makes a four-dimensional model.

One important part is the light cone. This is a shape made by light. It shows where things can go. Some paths stay inside the cone. We call these timelike paths. These paths follow things moving slower than light. Other paths are called spacelike. These paths are outside the cone. There are also null paths. These paths follow the path of light itself.
