Some people think we have two parts.

One part is our body. The other part is our mind. The mind is not a thing you can touch. It is what we think and feel.

René Descartes was a thinker who studied this. He said the mind is not a physical thing. He also said the body cannot think. This idea is called dualism.

Another thinker named Aristotle had different ideas. He thought humans had a special part for reason. He believed this part could live on. This is different from how plants live.

Some people believe the mind and body work together. This means the mind can change the body. It also means the body can change the mind.
