He wanted to change how people learn music. He thought music should not just be rules. He believed the body is the first musical instrument.

Dalcroze created a way of learning called eurhythmics. This method uses movement to teach musical ideas.

Students use their bodies to feel the music. They might walk to a beat or use gestures. They learn to relax muscles during quiet parts. They also learn to move with strong accents. This helps the brain and muscles work together. Dalcroze used three main parts for his training. The first is eurhythmics, which is music through movement. The second is solfège, which is ear training. The third is improvisation, which means making music on the spot.

Dalcroze started a school in Hellerau in 1910. Many famous dancers and musicians studied there. His ideas even helped music teaching in British schools. Today, his school in Geneva still teaches his methods. His work helps people feel and express music with joy.
