She was a world champion three times. Burke began her career in 1935. At first, she wrestled men at carnivals. She was very strong and had great muscles. She even performed a body slam on a man to show her skill. This helped her get trained by Billy Wolfe.

Burke was a top star for many years. She held a major world title for nearly twenty years. However, her life was not always easy. She had many fights with her husband, Billy Wolfe. These fights were about wrestling and business. They even went to court to settle things.

Burke did not let these hard times stop her. She started her own wrestling groups. She helped bring women's wrestling to many countries. This included Japan, Mexico, and Cuba.
