She played on the LPGA Tour, which is a professional circuit for women. Mickey was incredibly successful during her career. She won 82 different events on the LPGA Tour. This makes her the second person ever to win that many times. She also won 13 major championships. Major championships are the most important contests in golf. Mickey was the only player in LPGA history to hold all four major titles at the same time. Her skill made her a true star of the game.

Winning in golf requires great focus and a steady hand. Mickey was known for having a wonderful swing. A famous golfer named Ben Hogan said her swing was the best he had ever seen. She was very consistent on the course. From 1956 to 1969, she won at least one title every single year. This is a streak of 14 straight seasons. In 1964, she showed how much she could win by coming back from behind. At the Tall City Open, she won by 10 shots in the final round. During that same tournament, she shot a 62. That was the lowest score in LPGA history at that time.

Mickey's journey started long before she became a professional. She was born on February 14, 1935, in San Diego, California. She went to Herbert Hoover High School there. As a young player, she won the 1952 U.S. Girls' Junior title. She later attended Stanford University to play on their golf team. She won the 1954 World Amateur Championship before turning professional later that year. She officially joined the LPGA Tour in 1955. This marked the beginning of her long era of winning.

Mickey's career is full of impressive numbers and records. Between 1961 and 1964, she topped the LPGA money list for four years in a row. She also finished in the top ten on that list 13 times. Her major wins happened mostly between 1958 and 1966. She won the U.S. Women's Open three different times. She also won the LPGA Championship three times. In 1964, she played at Hogan Park in Midland, Texas. Her score of 62 there was much lower than the men's record of 66. These numbers show just how much she dominated the sport.

Today, people still talk about Mickey Wright's amazing talent. In the year 2000, a magazine called Golf Digest ranked her as the ninth greatest golfer of all time. They also called her the top woman golfer ever. A 2009 survey of experts agreed with this view. They chose her as the eighth best player of all time. She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame in 2017. Mickey lived in Port St. Lucie, Florida, for much of her life. She passed away in 2020 at the age of 85.
