Mica is a special kind of rock.

It is made of many tiny layers. These layers are held together weakly. Because of this, the rock splits into thin sheets.

These sheets can be very clear or dark. Some micas are white, green, or red.

Mica is very useful. It can handle high heat. It also stops electricity from moving. This makes it good for car parts.

We use it in paint to make colors bright. It is even in makeup to make things glitter. Mica helps many things shine.
