Long ago, a large group split into two. They were part of a big party in Russia. One group was called the Mensheviks. They had leaders like Julius Martov.

These people wanted a large group of members. They liked to work through laws and voting. They did not want to use force.

They thought change should happen in steps. They wanted to work with other groups. This was different from the other side.

In 1912, the two groups became separate parties. They had different ideas on how to lead. This split lasted for a long time. They worked hard to reach their goals.
