Saha had a very interesting life journey. He was born on 6 October 1893 in Sheoratali, which is in modern-day Bangladesh. His father, Jagannath Saha, was a shopkeeper. Saha faced many hard times because of the caste system in India. He even had to leave his school because of his part in the Swadeshi movement. Despite these challenges, he studied very hard at many colleges. He eventually became a professor at Allahabad University and the University of Calcutta. 
His career was full of big achievements and many important dates. In 1927, he became a Fellow of the Royal Society. He also helped start the National Academy of Science in 1930. Later, he helped found the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kolkata in 1943. 
Saha's ideas still help scientists today. His work on stars was so important that experts call it Nobel Prize class. He did not just stay in a lab, though. He used science to help build a better India. He planned big projects like the Damodar Valley Project for rivers. He passed away on 16 February 1956. Even today, many places like the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics honor his name.

Saha's political work focused on long-term planning and infrastructure. He was a chief architect of river planning in India. He prepared the original plan for the Damodar Valley Project. He also worked on topics like education, healthcare, and flood control. Some critics felt he strayed too far from his scientific laboratory into political territory. However, Saha believed science and industry were necessary for his country's development. He wanted to bridge the gap between his scientific dreams and the reality of government implementation. His goal was to improve river valley development and multipurpose river projects.
Meghnad Saha passed away on 16 February 1956. He suffered a cardiac arrest while traveling to the Planning Commission office. He had been dealing with hypertension for ten months before his death.
