Historians use this word to show how culture grew again.

One big time was the Carolingian Renaissance. This happened in the 8th and 9th centuries. A leader named Charlemagne helped lead it. He wanted to make society better.

He helped make a new way to write. We call this Carolingian minuscule. This script was easy to read. It helped people share ideas across Europe. Scholars also made new textbooks for schools.

Other times of growth happened too. In the 10th century, there was the Ottonian Renaissance. There was also a big growth in the 12th century. Even before Charlemagne, some places saw new ideas. In North Africa, the Vandals built great things. In Spain, the Isidorian Renaissance helped science grow. In England, the Northumbrian Renaissance saw new learning. These times showed that old ideas never truly died. They just waited to bloom again.
