Marcion was a man from long ago. He lived in a place called Pontus.

Some people called him a ship master. He traveled to a big city named Rome. He gave a lot of money to the people there.

Marcion had many big ideas. He believed in two different gods. One god made the world. A different god was full of love.

He also wrote his own holy books. He used letters written by Paul. He also used a book like the Gospel of Luke.

Other leaders did not agree with him. They said his ideas were not right. They even asked him to leave the church.

His group of followers grew very large. They stayed around for many years. It is interesting to see how ideas change.
