Marcelo Hugo Tinelli is a prominent Argentine media personality and businessman. He is widely recognized as a television and radio host. He also serves as a media producer. Tinelli has shaped much of the entertainment landscape in Argentina. His influence extends into the world of professional sports leadership. He is a key figure in both mass media and athletic organizations.

Tinelli's career began in sports broadcasting. He worked at Radio Rivadavia as a football sportscaster. In 1983, Juan Alberto Badía brought him to television via the program Badía y Compañía. In 1990, he created Videomatch. This show relied on sports results and lighthearted content. It featured easy jokes, hidden cameras, and bloopers, which are funny mistakes caught on film. Later, he hosted Ritmo de la Noche. This variety-musical show featured international musical acts. Famous performers included Bon Jovi, Poison, Duran Duran, and Brian May from the band Queen.

His television work has transitioned through several distinct stages and formats. In the early 1990s, Videomatch focused on light entertainment. By 1996, the program evolved to include more musical shows and guests. In 1999, he received the prestigious Golden Martín Fierro Award for Videomatch. The show eventually changed its name to Showmatch. This name change occurred because the original Videomatch name was owned by the Telefe network. Showmatch evolved into a variety program featuring singing and dancing contests. In 2009, it included a segment called Gran Cuñado. This segment used parodies of Argentine politicians and caused significant political stir.

Tinelli has also built a significant business empire through production companies. He founded Ideas del Sur, which produced many television dramas. Notable series included Okupas, Buenos Vecinos, Tumberos, Fugitivos, and Los Roldán. Following the bankruptcy of Ideas del Sur in 2018, he founded LaFlia contenidos. This new company was the first to focus specifically on digital content and services. Through LaFlia, he has produced various shows for national and international networks. He also expanded into film production with La Reina del Miedo and produced several comedy plays.

His leadership in sports is defined by high-level elections and organizational roles. Tinelli is a devoted supporter of the San Lorenzo de Almagro sports club. In 2019, he ran for the presidency of the club. He won the election with more than 80% of the vote. Since March 2020, he has also served as the president of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol. This association is responsible for ruling and organizing the Primera División football championships. He also helped found the volleyball team Club Ciudad de Bolívar in 2002. This team became one of the most successful in the Argentine league.

Tinelli's personal life is closely tied to his professional identity. He comes from a family of Argentine parents with Italian ancestry. He has five children: Micaela, Candelaria, Francisco, Juana, and Lorenzo. His family life has been a subject of public interest. Currently, he is in a relationship with the Peruvian model and actress Milett Figueroa. They met during the Argentine show Bailando 2023. He is also involved in a family documentary titled Los Tinelli. This series is streamed on Amazon Prime Video and features his entire family.

Today, Tinelli remains a constant presence in Argentine media. In 2023, he was hired by América TV. In this role, he serves as host, artistic director, and programming manager. His career demonstrates how media production, business ownership, and sports management can intersect. He has moved from radio reporting to managing major television networks and football associations. His work continues to bridge the gap between traditional broadcast television and modern digital services.
